The 2019 Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

2017 Donation to Christiana Care Health NICU  –  Michael U

Families with babies in Christiana Care’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) have one goal—getting their newborns healthy enough to go home. A gift from Delaware Subaru of $14,500 is helping the NICU support these families during and after their babies’ hospital stay. The gift marks the second year that Delaware Subaru has chosen Christiana Care’s NICU as their Share the Love recipient. “The people of Delaware Subaru are as compassionate as they are generous,” said David A. Paul, M.D., chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Christiana Care and clinical leader of the Women and Children’s Service Line. “They understand that NICU stays can overwhelm families. Through Share the Love, the dealership champions Christiana Care’s promise to provide the best clinical care for NICU babies and critical supports for their parents and caregivers.” Such supports might include education about what to expect while babies are in intensive care and when they first get home, assistance with special equipment for premature babies during and after their hospital stay, and counseling for parents and siblings during extended stays. “Christiana Care is a pillar across our region,” said Mike Uffner, CEO of Delaware Subaru and a Christiana Care Trustee since 2001 and vice chair of Trustees from 2010 to 2015. “Delaware Subaru is proud to have a hand in the important work the health system does for its youngest patients and the people who love them.”

Deer Collision  –  Bob L

Two weeks ago we unexpectedly found ourselves looking for a new car after a collision with a deer. Our interactions with Delaware Subaru were positive from the onset. We knew that we wanted a 2015 Impreza Limited with Eyesight which is a rare combination. We located that exact car on the Delaware Subaru website. We were greeted by Charles Gianakis when we came to the dealership. He told us that he would offer us a good deal; he lived up to his word, easily beating deals offered by the likes of Costco and other buying programs. He made the purchase a pleasure in contrast to the usual auto buying ordeal. The finance officer, April Gambacorta, matched Charles' professionalism. She was well-prepared and the purchase went smoothly. We had done our homework on the Internet and knew costs, profits, etc. Delaware Subaru respected our knowledge and efforts; at each turn they offered us a fair deal. Charles and April were efficient, responsive and professional in our purchase. We look forward to years of safe and enjoyable driving with our new Subaru.

We 'Share the Love' With Ministry of Caring  –  Br. Ronald G

Spring 2015-The Ministry of Caring received a $5,856 donation from Delaware Subaru. Brother Ronald Giannone, OFM Cap., founder and executive director of the Ministry, accepted the check from Michael Uffner, president of Delaware Subaru. The money was raised through Subaru's "Share the Love" campaign, a national program in which the automaker donates to nonprofits selected by new car buyers. Uffner said community service is one of the dealership's eight guiding principles. He praised the work done for the poor and homeless by the Ministry of Caring and Br. Ronald, whom he's known since Br. Ronald first arrived in Wilmington in the 1970s as a young friar with a desire to serve the poor. "The city and the state, without you and the Ministry of Caring, we'd be in a big world of hurt," Uffner said to Brother Ronald. Speaking before the dealership staff, Br. Ronald thanked them for choosing the Ministry of Caring as one of the participating charities and working to raise as much as possible. He spoke about how the money will be put to good use providing essential services to the poor. "Our agency takes care of the poorest of the poor of Delaware," Br. Ronald said. "We deal with the homeless, with those struggling, with those at the real end of a period of life. They're looking for hope. Through the Ministry of Caring, we give them jobs, housing, medical and dental care. We take care of all their basic human needs. Thank you..."

Great Customer Experience  –  Teshina W

Teshina wrote to us: "I was looking to purchase a new vehicle during the fall season, and to my surprise my long-standing beloved vehicle came to its resting place 6 days ago :-( I had been interested in looking at a Subaru, given the fact that my father, my brother, and many of my friends are Subaru owners. My brother assisted me in researching different models, and I decided on the Impreza. To my surprise, we initiated a chat session with a representative from Delaware Subaru and we were invited to come to the dealership on the same day. Once we arrived, we were greeted by Mr. Mike Cassidy. He listened to my plight and was eager to help. He was able to work with his general manager - Nick Gianakis - to locate a brand new 2014 Impreza! I was even provided with a courtesy vehicle for 3 days until my new car was transported to the dealership in Wilmington. I had such a wonderful experience with the purchase of this vehicle! I definitely highly recommend Mr. Cassidy and the Delaware Subaru team - excellent service!!!"
